What is the Adventure Center?

The Adventure Centers provide after-school enrichment and summer camp programs for students in K-5th grade in select Walton apartment communities. Creating a fun atmosphere that makes learning an adventure, while teaching sound character values and basic Bible truths is at the core of our Mission. Children build healthy relationships with peers while learning to become leaders in the communities in which they live and play. Academic enrichment is provided through targeted tutoring programs and fostering close relationships with partner schools and classroom teachers. Curriculum with a focus on science, math, reading and history, written specifically for use in the Adventure Centers, enhances the learning experience with hands-on creative activities, field trips and experiences.

Hours of Operation

Programs operate Monday-Friday, 2:30-6:00 pm during the school year, with extended hours during the summer months and during select school holidays.

What does it Cost?

The Adventure Center program is available to residents of the communities in which they are located free of charge. Parents are encouraged to participate by providing a snack each month for students in the program.

Tutoring

Mission 1:27 is committed to helping children who are at risk of falling behind in reading and math skills get back on track. We have partnered with a professor at Kennesaw State University’s College of Education to develop assessment tools to pinpoint gaps in phonics and decoding skills, as well as an individualized track for success. Close partnerships with local schools, classroom teachers and parents help to ensure that students are reaching their goals. Reading and math tutors work one on one with students to provide encouragement and that extra “push” needed to achieve success. We believe that students learn best one-to-one or in small groups. We believe every child can learn and improve. We believe that building a culture that values books is a first step in building better readers. Our program is designed to meet children at their point of need and teach specific skills that have been missed, forgotten or misunderstood. In addition to paid tutors, volunteers who want to make a difference in a child’s life are welcome to join us! Summer Camp

Summers at the Adventure Center are full of fun, excitement and adventure! Kids enjoy crafts, games, swimming, field trips and participation in Vacation Bible Schools at local churches. Shhhh! Don’t tell them they’re learning! The curriculum written specifically for the Adventure Center provides a great way to help kids hone their learning skills while having a great time! And it’s all provided free of charge to residents of select Walton communities.
